As ASCO’s Clinic Directors/Administrators Special Interest Group met in St. Louis this fall, Dr. Larry Davis, Dean of the University of Missouri at St. Louis College of Optometry (UMSL), acknowledged Dr. Lester Caplan for his many years of tireless service and leadership that have sustained ASCO and the SIG. After more than 18 years as Senior Consultant to ASCO, Dr. Caplan will retire on Dec. 31. (See “Dr. Caplan, Longtime ASCO Senior Consultant, to Retire.”) A framed print of the UMSL campus was presented to Dr. Caplan and personalized by all in attendance.

Also: On Oct. 16, Dr. Melvin Shipp, Dean of The Ohio State University College of Optometry, spoke at UMSL on “Improving the Public’s Health through Better Interprofessional Communication.” His lecture was part of the 2013 UMSL Great Lecture Series, presented by the College of Optometry, the UMSL Executive Leadership Consortium and the Alumni Association.
