The ASCO Student Affairs Officers met in Minneapolis, Minn., on June 15 during the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP) national meeting to discuss many relevant issues, including ASCO activities, OptomCAS, and the effort to further develop a robust, diverse and highly qualified national applicant pool. The American Optometric Association and American Optometric Student Association were also on the agenda to discuss their various membership activities. Dr. Jonathan Peretz from the University of California, Berkeley presented a workshop, “Practical Resilience: Becoming our Students’ and our Own Best Allies.”
Some ASCO members participated in NAAHP activities such as the Spotlight Session on Optometry and the Meet the Deans exhibit fair. Participation in these events helps ASCO and its member schools better connect with health professions advisors from hundreds of institutions across the United States to promote the profession of optometry.
