ASCO sponsored its seventh Optometry Virtual Fair on Nov. 2, 2016. All 23 schools and colleges of optometry participated, 643 prospective students registered and 367 of them chatted live online with school and college representatives.
Virtual fairs are part of the ASCO-American Optometric Association Project on Further Developing a Robust, Diverse, and Highly Qualified National Applicant Pool. The fairs, along with the profession of optometry, are promoted through a major e-mail campaign aimed at prospective students, pre-optometry clubs and health professions advisors. They provide a convenient platform for asking questions about the profession, the OptomCAS application and school-specific requirements.
