The University of Missouri at St. Louis (UMSL) College of Optometry officially opened its new, state-of-the art Patient Care Center in November 2016. The new facility features 35,000 sq. ft. of clinical space for adult and pediatric eyecare services as well as an open, flowing floor plan and an abundance of natural light. The additional space it provides will help enable partnerships with nursing, dental and other healthcare providers. Speaking at the grand opening, College of Optometry Dean Dr. Larry Davis credited former UMSL Chancellor Blanche Touhill with first recognizing the need for the new space during her tenure.
Also: Dr. Edward S. Bennett, Professor and Assistant Dean for Student Services and Alumni Relations, was honored by the Indiana University School of Optometry with the 2016 Foley House Distinguished Alumni Award, which recognizes an alumnus who has spent significant time dedicated to excellence in optometry, has represented the school well throughout his/her career, and has reached pre-eminent status in the field of optometry.
