NECO Holds Second Grand Rounds with Hospital in India

On Oct. 26, 2016, the low vision department at New England College of Optometry (NECO) presented its second annual international grand rounds program in conjunction with the low vision department at LV Prasad Eye Hospital in Hyderabad, India. The presentation utilized real-time video conferencing to allow collaboration between students and practitioners in Boston and Hyderabad.

The 2016 program focused on pediatric low vision and featured presentations from Dr. Alexis Malkin and Dr. Nicole Ross from NECO and Dr. Deepak Bagga and Dr. Beula Christy from LV Prasad Eye Institute. Each of the four presenters discussed a pediatric low vision case and the team approach towards case management. Approximately 75 third-year students and faculty attended the event in Boston.

Also: Several NECO faculty members recently received awards. Dr. Bina Patel was named Humanitarian of the Year for 2016 by VOSH International. Dr. Fuensanta Vera-Diaz received the Scientific Research Career Development Award from the American Academy of Optometry, and Dr. Stacy Lyons received a Dr. Mae Booth-Jones Awards for Mentoring and Education from Women in Optometry.
