Three to Receive Honorary SCO Degrees

Three individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession of optometry have been selected to receive honorary degrees at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) 2014 commencement ceremony in May. U.S. Sen. John Boozman (R-Ark.), a 1977 SCO graduate, will receive SCO’s honorary Doctor of Ocular Science degree and deliver the commencement address. Former President of the American Optometric Association, the group’s first female president, Dr. Dori Carlson will receive the honorary Doctor of Ocular Science degree. Dr. Ralph Stone, a retired Alcon executive who led the development of the company’s Opti-Free contact lens solutions and Systane dry-eye treatments, will receive the Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
