The Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry (AZCOPT) recently received an accreditation notification for its Doctor of Optometry graduate degree program from the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE). ACOE classified AZCOPT’s “Accredited” status for the maximum term of eight years. The “Accredited” designation indicates that AZCOPT’s doctoral program meets and is in compliance with ACOE accreditation standards. The college graduated its first class this year, conferring 39 degrees on May 29.

“The full accreditation of our College of Optometry is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the college leadership, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Kathleen H. Goeppinger, President and CEO of the university. “They have developed a very strong curriculum, excellent on-campus training in the Eye Institute, and have mentored and motivated the students to excel in their studies. The ACOE acknowledgement of the university meeting and exceeding all accreditation standards makes all of us very proud.”
