Diversity Grant Program Undergoes Changes

ASCO continues to offer a diversity-related mini-grant program, although some changes are taking effect this year. For 2014, the program focuses specifically on the development of a more diverse optometric applicant pool. The grant program’s new name — Developing a Diverse Applicant Pool in Optometric Education Mini-Grant Program — reflects the new focus. Schools and colleges of optometry can receive up to $5,000 in seed money to implement qualified projects/programs.

This year’s due date for grant applications has passed, but for future reference the new program guidelines can be found here. Questions can be directed to Carol Brubaker, Manager, Professional Affairs.

This is the tenth year in which ASCO has offered a diversity mini-grant program. Alcon, The Vision Care Institute, LLC, and Luxottica Retail have generously supported the program throughout its existence.
