Northeastern State University’s (NSU) Broken Arrow campus hosted the grand opening of the Lesley L. Walls Vision Center in March. The 7,000-square-foot clinic is a state-of-the-art facility that provides low-vision and neuro-optometric services for clients in the greater Tulsa area. It is named for Dr. Lesley L. Walls, who served as Dean of NSU’s Oklahoma College of Optometry from 1987 to 1992 and is a long-time contributor to the university, the profession and optometric education, including serving as ASCO President in 1994/1995, as Dean of the Pacific University College of Optometry, and as President of the Southern California Colleges of Optometry.
The clinic is the culmination of three years of efforts and contributions from NSU, Dr. Walls, Doctors Hospital Foundation, Dr. Robert Zoellner and other supporters who would like to improve access to vision services in the community. The clinic will also provide real-world experience for learning and research for NSU optometry students and adjunct staff.
